About us
We’re here to make sure our beneficiaries continue to benefit from owning The Lines Company (TLC) together — not just today, but for generations to come.
WESCT was set up in 1993, when changes in government rules around electricity meant local communities could take ownership of their networks. Rather than giving shares to individual customers, a single community trust was created to hold them on behalf of everyone eligible. That way, ownership stayed local — where it belongs.
Our electricity network was built over many years by people working together to bring power to homes, farms, and businesses across the region. Because of that shared effort, it made sense for ownership to be shared too. The Trust model means the benefits stay in our communities, now and into the future.
More than 30 years on, we’re looking ahead — finding new ways to keep delivering on the Trust’s purpose and to continue serving our community in a changing world.
