Waitomo Energy Services Customer Trust (WESCT) is inviting expressions of interest for a new Director to join The Lines Company (TLC) Board following the upcoming retirement of long-serving Director Craig Richardson.
Richardson, who has served on the TLC board since October 2018, will step down later this year. WESCT Chair William Oliver acknowledged Mr Richardson’s significant contribution to the company and the wider community.
“Craig has brought a wealth of experience and insight to the TLC board over the past six and a half years,” said Oliver.
“His leadership and commitment have helped guide TLC through a period of transformation and growth. On behalf of the Trust, we thank him sincerely for his service.”
WESCT is now seeking a new Director to joing the TLC Board tohelp lead TLC. The role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital community-owned asset that plays a key role in the economic well-being of the King Country region.
“TLC is more than just an electricity lines company,” said Oliver. “It’s a cornerstone of our local economy, supporting jobs, enabling growth, and delivering essential services to our communities. This is a chance for someone with the right skills and passion to make a real difference.”
The recruitment process is being managed by Sheffield on behalf of WESCT. The Trust hope to make an appointment in July, with a new Director commencing their term on 1 October.
WESCT owns 100% of The Lines Company (TLC) on behalf of its beneficiaries, making TLC 100% community-owned. WESCT has approximately 8,000 beneficiaries, primarily residing in or around Te Kūiti, Ōtorohanga, Piopio, Mangakino, and Mōkau. The Trust is composed of six Trustees, who are elected by beneficiaries for a four-year term. WESCT beneficiaries will receive $2.4 million in TLC discounts which is applied as credits on their electricity bills through May and June.
